#67 – After Success

Good morning God-honouring people

2 Chronicles 26:16 But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.

Many people realise that they need God to be successful in life. It’s easy to submit to God when moving towards success, whether in the Church, business or school. We are often in a state of acute dependence upon God in the building stage. But many of these same followers of Christ lose that sense of acute dependence when they get to a certain level of success. We forget that the same God who got us there needs to keep us there.

Uzziah’s pride was his downfall. Thoughts like “I am doing pretty well here” crept in. Pride is a character deficiency that destroys many well-intentioned individuals. Many become successful in the eyes of God by the hand of God and then the focus leaves God. This ought not to be. Pride is very subtle many times but the identifying factor is one word, one letter; “I”.

I’ve mentioned this scripture before but it applies here. John 15:5 says ‘without Christ we can do NOTHING’. We need to believe this with all of our hearts and we must stay close to and dependent upon God every moment of every day.

Are you acutely aware of your dependence upon God today?

If you feel life is going well, I encourage you to STOP and check your dependence and acknowledgement level of God as the sovereign One in all that you do. You need Him.
