Good morning people who refuse to let your mind be the enemy’s dumping ground.

Colossians 3:1-2 NIV Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Paul states that our hearts and our minds need to be set on things above.

Our hearts talks about our affection. Our minds talks about our attention.

There is a common narrative that declares we have no control over what we think about. And yet the truth is this: God would not instruct us to set our minds on things above if it were not possible in Him.

The word minds in this scripture means to exercise the mind. Very interestingly, the word minds in the KJV is the word affections. On the surface, this is saying the opposite of what I have just written above, but its not if we understand what God is saying.

What we choose to exercise our mind towards does reveal what our affections are.

While we can’t stop fiery darts of the enemy from coming, we do choose if we let them settle and how long we let them stay.

Thoughts from the enemy are intruders that need to be evicted, not friends that need to be entertained.

2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

We demolish and take captive every thought that is contrary to truth. We don’t discuss it or feed it or believe it as truth. This takes effort – sometimes, seemingly impossible effort – but in God and with God, all things are possible!

What we feed grows. What we fuel gets stronger.
