Good morning people who follow the One who is infinitely for you.
Luke 4:13 NIV When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
I simply want to state what the Bible says, and I want Father to teach us what He wants us to know. So, let’s continue to do this today.
Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit and tempted by the devil.
As I typed this, I heard the Father say, “It should never be the other way around.”
We must guard against ever being led by the devil, and believe the lie that we are being tempted by the Holy Spirit. I pray you hear this.
And now, I am aware of verse 5 from this same chapter:
Luke 4:5 NIV The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.
Father, what are You saying?
While the devil led Jesus to a certain place in this time of testing, Father was still having His way, and Jesus was still committed to fulfilling Father’s purpose for His life. This is very different to someone following the devil’s leading through carelessness or self-will. We must understand the bigger picture of what is happening in a moment.
Here are two often-quoted Scriptures by me that speak into what Father wants us to hear today.
James 1:13 NIV When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.
Galatians 5:25 NIV Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
The devil tempts people to sin. He leads people towards death.
God doesn’t tempt people to sin. God leads people in righteousness.
Like Jesus, may we always follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
