Good morning people who recognise the voice of who is speaking to you.
Luke 4:9-12 NIV The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. For it is written: “ ‘He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”
Jesus was tempted by the devil again in His identity.
Sometimes the devil tempts people once in an area, and sometimes he tries again and again. The devil tempted Jesus on more than one occasion with the words, “If you are the Son of God.” Jesus was up to the challenge, and He answered from God’s Word every time.
We too must relentlessly declare God’s Word of Truth.
Jesus was tempted by the devil to test God.
This temptation was around God protecting Jesus, and it was framed by quoting the Scriptures to add weight to his temptation. In essence, the devil was quoting the truth, and the truth was about the angels guarding Jesus carefully; supernatural protection.
Jesus accurately discerned the voice that was trying to convince Him. And this is a need for us today; to accurately discern whether the source of a message is trustworthy. Not everything that sounds right is right. Not everyone who quotes a scripture is for God. Spiritual discernment is essential.
