#6170 – Memorisation and Meditation

Good morning people who have made God’s Word your foundation for living.

Psalm 119:11 NIV I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

This is memorisation and it is a master key to living in the Spirit.

Every person has the supernatural ability to memorise God’s Word. If this were not so, God would be unjust, and He most certainly is not. Sure, some people have a greater propensity towards retaining knowledge and information than others – I agree with this. But memorising God’s Word through the power of the Holy Spirit is more supernatural than it is natural – it is a work of the Spirit in response to a hungry heart.

I have always had a yearning and desire to know God’s Word, and it is this that I believe God has responded to in my life. I forget much more natural information than I retain, but by the Spirit of God, I remember much of what is most important, and that is God’s Word. Hallelujah!

Psalm 119:13 NIV With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth.

This is meditation and it is a master key to living in the Spirit.

While meditation involves what we think about, it is much more what we speak about and what we speak from. Declaring God’s Word is the highest form of Bible meditation. Actually, living God’s Word is higher, but this is empowered by constantly speaking God’s Word out of our lips.

Recently I have been reading my Bible out loud in my time with God. I find it really does something deeper in my Spirit. There is creative power in our tongue, and what better way to use it than to declare and proclaim God’s Word! I find this also facilitates a seamless flow between reading God’s Word and praying God’s Word. It is powerful!

Memorisation empowers meditation, and the Holy Spirit wants to help you with both.
