#6169 – The Path of Purity

Good morning people who live your life under the authority of God’s written Word.

Psalms 119:9 NIV How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word.

We live in a very impure world. Lust – in all its forms – drives people’s decisions, and fulfilling people’s own desire has become a pursuit and a major problem.

As always, we know things by their fruit. We recognise an apple tree because of the apples that the tree produces. We recognise an orange tree because of the oranges that the tree produces.

It’s time to look at the fruit of our decisions and our pursuits.

When the fruit is distance from God, we must change the root. When the fruit is condemnation, guilt and shame, we must change the root. When the fruit is stepping back from church and spending time with Christlike people who speak the truth, we must change the root. When the fruit is skepticism and justification against the Bible, we must change the root.

We recognise a godly person because of the godliness of their lives.

Godly people live according to God’s Word – it is that simple and that clear. The path of purity is found in the written and infallible Word of Truth. The Bible leads us towards God’s heart along the pathway of purity and holiness.

Young people, please listen to me:

Not everything that gets your attention should be given your attention.

You always have the ability through the power of the Holy Spirit to say NO to temptation and YES to God. But we must ask Him and follow Him! And part of the key is to also do this same thing when we are not being tempted. Our God is not just a help me get out of temptation God. Our God is an all-of-life God!

Here’s a couple of great questions to ask yourself about the choice you are about to make:

Will I feel closer to God if I say YES to this?

Would I want other people to follow my example in what I am about to do?

And very importantly and foundationally:

What does the Bible say about this?
