#5516 – In God’s Eyes

Good morning people who live looking through the eyes of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Deuteronomy 12:8-9 NKJV “You shall not at all do as we are doing here today—every man doing whatever is right in his own eyes— for as yet you have not come to the rest and the inheritance which the Lord your God is giving you.”

This was not written to ‘the world’, but to the Children of Israel! This was written to people that God desired to take into the Promised Land and to give them rest from their enemies! This was written to people whom God had an inheritance set aside for them!

And this is who God is speaking to today in a similar manner.

Paul echoed God’s desire in the following scripture:

Ephesians 1:18 NIV I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.

So deep! So rich! So powerful! And this is God’s heart for every believer!

But we must come back to the place where we accept that we don’t know best! Doing whatever is right in our own eyes will never lead us into our inheritance.

Here’s what the prophet Jeremiah wrote:

Jeremiah 17:9 NIV The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

He follows this by declaring:

Jeremiah 17:10 NIV “I the Lord search the heart and examine the mind, to reward each person according to their conduct, according to what their deeds deserve.”

May we see through the eyes of God, and where needed, may we return to the blessing and favour of our loving Father.
