Good morning people who hear and obey God’s Word as the foundation of your life.
Luke 6:46 NIV “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”
Oh how often Jesus must say this to believers in the days that we are living in!
Knowing God’s Word is pointless unless it is accompanied by full obedience.
Imagine a child that says, “I love you Mum!”, and yet doesn’t do what Mum tells them to do. Or perhaps, the child says, “Sure, I will do that Mum!”, only to repeatedly make excuses why they haven’t done it.
Yet this is what many Christians do with God on a daily basis.
Friends of God do not just hear what God says, they do what God says. In fact, obedience to instructions is a mark of true discipleship. Quoting scriptures is not as important as obeying scriptures.
This is not legalism my friends! This is bible!
James 1:22 NIV Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
John 15:10-11 NIV If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
God’s joy is in us – He gets joy from our lives – when we keep His commands, and thus, we remain in His love. This is such a deep truth that is worthy of more meditation!
And God’s joy in us overflows into our joy being complete! Yes! We all want this – more joy; complete joy!
And it comes from keeping God’s commands from a place of deep friendship with Him.
Perhaps our lack of joy comes from a lack of obedience.
It’s time to be hearers of God’s Word and to walk in the fullness of His joy in our lives.
