#5381 – Persevering Prayer

Good morning people who are privileged to spend great lengths of time with the Lord.

Luke 6:12 NIV One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.

The length of our prayers don’t impress God, but sometimes persistence in prayer most certainly pleases God and shifts something in the Spirit realm.

Token prayers are oxymorons. They are an insult to God and they do us little to no good.

Praying only when we want something from God is also far less than God’s intended purpose for prayer. Yes, He is a good Father, and He absolutely loves to meet our needs, but prayer is more than simply meeting our needs.

The highest purpose of prayer is communication between God and us. This is not a nice thought or a vague type of symbolism, this is the absolute reality of prayer!

We get to talk to God! We get to listen to God! We get to enter into deep fellowship with God! We get to spend lots of time with God in prayer!!

How is your prayer life?

Does God get leftovers or is He the first and primary priority of your day?

The one defining characteristic of Jesus’ church is prayer. It’s not meetings, teaching, fellowship, discipleship, giving, missions or serving. All of these are wonderful and imperative! But this is not what Jesus said His church will be known for!

Here’s what He said:

Matthew 21:13 NIV “It is written,” he said to them, “ ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it ‘a den of robbers.’”

It’s time for increased prayer by God’s praying people.
