#492 – God Has Paid

Good morning people who walk by grace

I am on a journey where my wonderful heavenly Father is taking me to a new level of understanding His grace and His righteousness. The focus is on the finished work of the cross and not my puny little efforts which are never enough.

The other day I ordered some hot chips (fries for you Americans) for lunch. I ordered by phone and went to pick them up only to find they said there was no order. I realised that I had called the wrong shop. Well they cooked me some there but I felt prompted to call the other shop (closer to my home, not my work) and let them know of my mistake and tell them I would come and pay them on the way home.

After work I called in and spoke to a different lady but she knew about the situation. She offered to cook some more for me but I informed her that I didn’t need any; I was just here to pay for the ones I ordered that they had made. Following is how the conversation ended up.

Lady “It was a mistake. Don’t worry about it.”

Me “I know it was a mistake but I am here to pay for my mistake.”

Lady (looking at me directly) “You don’t need to pay for your mistakes”.

I’ve never received a prophetic word from a lady in a fish and chip shop but I distinctly heard God speak something I desperately needed to hear. You see God has already paid for my mistakes and my sin; I don’t have to pay the price. This is not an excuse for licence because there is the principle of ‘sowing and reaping’ but the truth remains for us all today.

Jesus Christ has paid the price for our sins! We don’t need to pay again; we just need to receive God’s grace.
