#4779 – Let God In

Good morning believers who open the door to greater intimacy with God.

Yesterday we talked about our indescribable God who stands knocking at the door of our hearts, wanting to come in and spend more time with us. This is such a powerful and humbling invitation for every believer.

John’s revelation from Jesus to the seven churches (not the world) included this glorious invitation:

Revelation 3:20 NIV Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Oh, how amazing this is! This is God speaking to us, His children!

We can have a relationship with someone, but not be in relationship with someone. You can have a brother or a sister, a mother or a father, or even a spouse with whom you have a relationship – they are your brother, sister, mother, father or spouse. And yet you can not be in relationship with them – you might not have spoken in years and there is no closeness of heart or life.

The same can be true with believers and God.

This is not said for the purpose of condemnation – this is never why God speaks. But like Jesus revealed to John in this verse above, He says it for the purpose of invitation to deeper connection.

Maybe for some today, it’s not just about deeper connection; maybe it’s about reconnection. Maybe your love has grown cold, or you have simply drifted from intimacy with God due to “life’.

If this is you, I see Jesus standing before you, with outstretched arms, calling you lovingly towards Him and the Father. The Holy Spirit wants to walk with you towards the fullness of what is available to you.

Will you take the next step?
