#4626 – Responding by Faith

Good morning people who live by faith when God is testing you

Hebrews 11:17-19 NIV By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.” Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we know that our steps are ordered by the Lord, that God is for us, and that He is working everything for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.

Therefore, everything will be ok!

Right?

Well, that depends on your definition of ‘ok’.

If you mean persecution, suffering, beatings, imprisonment, fiery furnaces, lion’s dens, slavery, death, etc, etc, etc, yeah, everything will be ok.

Now, before you step away from this delightful word of encouragement, of course, many of us will never face anything so difficult. But for some, we may. And for others, there will be degrees of difficulty in our lives.

We can almost expect it from others, but what do you do when God is testing you?

Abraham’s story turned out wonderful, but when he was living it in the moment, he had no guarantee outside of God’s sovereignty.

Yet, by faith, he obeyed.

God desires us to do the same.
