#4625 – Our Future Home

Good morning people who please God by taking Him at His word

Hebrews 11:13-16 NIV All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

God is not ashamed to be called ‘our God’ to faith-filled, future-focused people.

The context here is, ‘for (because) he has prepared a city for them.’

We can’t see heaven, but God has declared it is so. So, when we believe that it exists, and we live this natural life with a focus on our eternal spiritual life, God is pleased because we are taking Him at His word.

I feel the Lord saying right now, “Faith for the present is essential, and faith for the future is essential.”

Both are needed, but it is our faith in God’s future promise that guides us and guards us in our present faith journey on earth.
