#4584 – Loving Christians

Good morning people who love your brothers and sisters in Christ

1 John 2:9-11 NIV Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.

This is one of those scriptures that many Christians do not like, yet it is in the Bible and there is freedom and power connected to it.

Some read this and wrongly conclude that if we are to love all believers, it means we condone everything they do and we are best friends with them regardless of their lifestyle.

But remember, the Father loved the world so much that He sent Jesus to live and die for it. He didn’t do this because He condoned the world, but rather the opposite, because He didn’t condone the world. But nor did He condemn the world. He loved the world enough to do something for it.

This is our example as followers of Jesus Christ. It is not easy, but nor was it easy for Jesus. We must stop excusing our disobedience because of what is difficult and what it costs us. Imagine if Jesus had did that and He had not gone to the cross for us.

Our love for fellow believers is an evidence of whether we are living in the light.
