#4585 – Loving the Father

Good morning people who love the Father by hating the world

1 John 2:15-17 NIV Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

God loved the world so much He sent Jesus, yet we are told to not love the world if we truly love the Father. Confused?

God’s love for the world was His love for the lost people who needed a Saviour. We are called to love the world the same way; loving the lost towards the Father.

God’s instruction to not love the world was not talking about not loving lost people. It actually makes it clear and states three things that it is talking about: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.

This is not talking about our pure love for people, but about our perverted lust for wrong passions and pursuits.

This is not talking about what we can selflessly give, but about what we can selfishly get.

If we love the Father, it will be evidenced by our hatred of what God hates and our love for what God loves.

This is not legalism, this is truth.
