Good morning people who do not live with greedy and selfish motives

Matthew 6:11 NIV Give us today our daily bread.

We live in a time where people want more than they presently have. Enough is never enough. We want more. We want bigger. We want better.

We want our future assured. We want to rely upon ourselves and we want to be ‘self-made’ people. We want confidence in our ability to be secure in the future.

Like I said yesterday, diligence is right, and it is required, but our confidence must not be primarily based in us.

Our present and our future security must be in God, not in ourselves.

Jesus showed us that prayer is not a demand for more than we need.

By stating ‘today’ and ‘daily’ in this model prayer, I believe Jesus is clearly stating the following:

Prayer is a statement of faith that our Omniscient Father will provide enough day by day.

“Father, today we might not have much, but we thank You for what we do have and acknowledge that it comes from You. We also acknowledge that we don’t know how You will choose to provide in the future, but with certainty and by faith we know that You will give us our daily bread, both now and in the future. We trust You and we are thankful.”
