Good morning people who pass on to yourself what Jesus gave to us

1 Corinthians 13:5 NIV It (LOVE) does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

In context, we have talked about God not keeping a record of our wrongs against Him, as well as us not keeping a record of wrongs done to us by others.

Today, I want to address something that is very difficult for many Believers, and that is, not keeping a record of our own sins, mistakes and shortcomings.

Sometimes we are so hard on ourselves. Perfection grips many, and it ties us up in a debilitating way. I have walked this journey in life, and it is terribly painful.

And so today, our loving, kind, gracious, merciful Father gives us permission – in fact, He requires us – to forgive ourselves; to get rid of our record of our own sins; to walk into our own freedom that is found in Christ, not in ourselves.

I’ll leave you with these two scriptures to meditate on and pray for yourself:

Romans 12:1b MSG …Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him.

1 John 2:1-2 NIV My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate (defence lawyer) with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

If perfect God can forgive us and chooses not to keep any record of our wrongs, then we honour Him best by following His example. It’s time to forgive ourselves and walk forward in Christ.
