Good morning people who put great confidence in what Jesus tells us to do
Luke 5:4-7 NIV When He (Jesus) had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signalled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
As followers of Jesus Christ, what works is not ‘what works’. What works is what Jesus says to a person in a moment.
The disciples who were in the boat were professional fishermen. They knew how to catch fish. They knew what worked. They knew when it was the best time. They knew what to do – they knew what works.
But Jesus said…
“As followers of Christ, are we willing to follow His command even when we think we know what we are doing and He yet says something different?”
“Are we willing to do something again that didn’t previously yield any fruit if Jesus tells us to?”
