#3123 – Double Joy

Good morning people who bring God joy by their lives and receive joy from Him

John 15:10-11 NIV 10 If you (Believers) keep My (Jesus) commands, You will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commands and remain in His love. 11 I (Jesus) have told you this so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

I want to acknowledge my dad’s insights and wisdom in what I am about to share.

The context in this passage (and indeed much of what the New Testament says) is this two way ‘in each other’ that we read about. We read about ‘Christ in us’ and ‘us in Him’, as well as ‘us remaining in Jesus’ love’ and ‘Jesus remaining in His Father’s love’,

So when it comes to the joy in verse 11, Dad has said, this is not saying the same thing two different ways about ‘us having God’s joy’. The context I just mentioned would affirm that.

This is saying, that when we as Believers do what Jesus has commanded us to do, He gets joyfrom our lives – My joy may be in you’. This is in the same way as the Father getting joy from how Jesus lived His life doing what the Father asked Him to do, even when it was difficult to the point of death.

Secondly, the result of this is, we get the joy of the Lord – your joy may be complete’. When we live on track with what Father wants us to do, we are joy-filled people, and this joy comes from us walking in intimacy and obedience to Christ.

I pray that God gets joy from how we live this year, and that as we do, we get joy from the Lord this year. The two are inseparable.
