#3057 – Battle Ships

Good morning people who live Holy Spirit empowered and disciplined lives

1 Corinthians 9:25-27 (NIV) 25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly: I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

The Christian life is not like a cruise ship, but like a battle ship.

There are spiritual disciplines. There are ‘rights’ and ‘wrongs’. There are things to ‘put off’ and things to ‘put on’. There are spiritual battles to fight and people to forgive and love.

It’s not always easy – it’s not. But we are called to live fully for the glory of God.

If we are not careful, we will pray about things but not act on them. We can’t do things without the power of the Holy Spirit, but the Holy Spirit is sometimes waiting for us to ‘take action’ and do what the Bible says.

“Do you do what you need to do in order to honour God?”
