#2161 – Emotional Praise

Good morning people who make a loud noise and rejoice singing praise

It’s true: Praise looks good on you!!!

The two main garments the Bible talks about for us as followers of Christ are the robes of righteousness and the garments of praise. We all agree we need to be dressed in robes of righteousness…it’s time to equally be dressed in garments of praise.

Here are some inspiring and instructive verses on how praise should look:

Psalm 47:1 (NIV) Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy.

Psalm 150:3-6 (NIV) Praise Him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise Him with the harp and lyre, praise Him with timbrel and dancing, praise Him with the strings and pipe, praise Him with the clash of cymbals, praise Him with resounding cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.

2 Samuel 6:14-15 (NIV) Wearing a linen ephod, David was dancing before the Lord with all his might, while he and all Israel were bringing up the ark of the Lord with shouts and the sound of trumpets.

Praise: clapping, shouting, crashing cymbals, uninhibited dancing, trumpets…there’s a lot of loud emotionally charged praise going on here! Some people have attacked emotion in praise…while giving plenty of emotion to temporal and earthly things. If your loudest shout and your greatest applause are for a sports team or a musical concert, something is wrong and unbiblical. Surely God deserves our best, including our emotional extravagance?

“Maybe it’s time to look at praise differently?”
