#2146 – Sit Down

Good morning people who know how to be still and sit with Jesus

Sometimes we are waiting for God to SHOW UP when He is waiting for us to SIT DOWN.

Psalm 46:10 (NIV) He says, Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

The phrase ‘be still’ here means: ‘cease, hush, be idle, let things drop.

Many times we don’t stop and spend time with God because we have too much to do. The truth is that any fruitful person probably has a to-do list that is longer than the hours available. And this is where the truth of this verse comes in; we need to be willing to ‘let things drop’.

Maybe God’s way is best. Maybe God knows that what we deem as most urgent actually isn’t. Maybe what matters for eternity is different to what we believe demands our time right now; we will take our relationship with God to heaven, not our work.

I wonder if ‘be still and know that I am God’ is more of an invitation than an obligation.

And look at the result; God will be exalted among the nations and in the earth!

“How does this happen?”I believe it’s because we will function out of the overflow of our time with God where He becomes larger in our vision than we are in our vision. We will be transformed in the renewing of our minds as we meditate on His Word. Our thoughts and our ways will become His thoughts and His ways. The supernatural will become normal and we will become clearer in our reflection of Jesus.

Time with God is never wasted time; it is our daily bread.
