Good morning people who hope in a trustworthy God
(By Clayton Coombs – http://www.claytoncoombs.com/)
Romans 15:13 (NIV) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Did you know that God is a God of hope? What’s more, we His people are to be people of hope.
It is God’s intention that you overflow with hope. That means that God wants you to be a person who is constantly brimming with faith-filled expectation for the future. To overflow with hope, means that you have more than enough for yourself; so much in fact, that those around you are affected by the irrepressible positivity that is constantly splashing anyone who comes close.
For some, the overflow has a good effect. They too are empowered to see the best in their situation and believe for a better future. Some will react negatively. You will be accused of being a ‘blind optimist.’ Don’t worry. We are the ones who “walk by faith, and not by sight.” Sometimes you have to turn a blind eye to the facts in order to declare the truth. This is not blind faith, but rather the supernatural ability to really see beyond what mere eyes can perceive, God’s ultimate reality, of which our own is a mere shadow by comparison.
You may be in a dark place today, a place that is not full of hope, but rather a despair that threatens to smother you. If that is so, I pray that the power of the Holy Spirit would restore your joy and peace in the midst of your circumstances so that you would be empowered to “overflow with hope” again. And I pray that the God of hope would open your eyes of faith to see the reality of the things you hope for.
