Good morning people of faith and hope
Too many times I live by my feelings. If I am going through a challenge, I find it difficult to rise above it around other people. We live in a time where there needs to be authenticity with leaders but this can become an excuse for living by feelings. It takes effort to rise above but I know I need to do better, sometimes much better.
Did you know that Billy Graham was naturally very pessimistic yet he constantly inspired others and filled them with hope and faith? His wife Ruth said of him, “he has the boundless capacity for seeing the grim side of every situation.” Did you know that Mother Theresa struggled with feelings of doubt, loneliness and spiritual abandonment? In 1985 Mother Theresa wrote, “My smile is a great cloak that hides a multitude of pains.”
Were these great people fake? Absolutely not. They were ones that lived their lives by faith and not by feelings. They lived their lives beyond themselves. They knew that there would always be challenges but God had called them for a purpose. I can learn a lot from them.
Billy Graham “I’ve read the last page of the Bible. It’s all going to turn out all right.”
