#15 – Loving the Word

Good morning Bible-believing people

Do you love the Word of God? I do! Psalm 119 is an awesome passage of Scripture all about the precious and powerful word of God. The Psalmist truly delights in the Word. He refers to it as a lamp unto his feet and a light unto his path. He says on one hand he trembles at the Word yet he loves the Word. He asks God to teach him the Word while at the same time declaring he has hidden it in his heart so that he will not sin against the Lord. He says God’s statutes are wonderful and he stands in awe of God’s laws. He goes as far as saying God’s commands are his delight. Do you delight in God’s Word? I encourage every one of you to spend some time slowly reading through and meditating on Psalm 119.

I believe our love for the Word of God is based upon our obedience, not our knowledge and understanding. Many profess to know deep truths yet live according to their own desires. Another thing to keep in mind is the absolute need to balance Scripture with Scripture and to handle the Word of God correctly. Anyone can find a Scripture to sustain their point of view but that’s not what we are meant to do. Scripture should not support our lifestyle; it should shape and direct it. Scripture should not support our doctrine; it should establish it. The Word of God is beautiful and I pray that today you and I will both meditate on the precious Word all day
