Good morning people who do not remember what God chooses to not remember.
Hebrews 10:17-18 NIV Then He (the Holy Spirit) adds: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.” And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
I’ve said this before, but oh it burns in my heart again today: God is all-knowing, so He cannot forget something, or even ‘remember it no more’.
So what does this mean?
The original language literally means: ‘choose not to bring back to remembrance, especially for the purpose of punishment’.
This is powerful!
I believe Jesus would have us do the same thing for ourselves. Once Jesus has forgiven us, we are forgiven! There is no longer any sacrifice that is needed!
Yet so often we keep on looking back and wishing we could make up for it. So often we continue to punish ourselves for something God doesn’t think about again.
Maybe today we would do well to step into God’s perspective of our reality: If we are forgiven, then it is forgotten! We are free, loved, valued and highly favoured! There is nothing more to do except walk forward in the grace and kindness of God!
That sounds nice.
