Good morning people who have been blessed by our eternally good God.

Ephesians 1:3 NIV Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

What do you hear when you read these words above?

For many, there is a disconnect because of the realities and challenges of life. I have been there, and if I am really honest, I can still be there really easily and quickly. We are all on a journey.

However, I hear the Father speaking to me now through the Holy Spirit.

Many times we don’t believe that we have received every spiritual blessing because…

…we still have broken relationships, we are still in pain in our bodies, others aren’t being healed when we pray for them, we continue to struggle financially, we are concerned by what is happening in the world, we are wrestling with questions and doubts and fears…and the list goes on.

But all of these are on the earth and all of these are natural. And herein is our problem: we have subtly believed that blessing is all about what happens here and now. But this is not what this verse says and it is not what God means by blessing.

So, let’s read the verse again:

Ephesians 1:3 NIV Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Every spiritual blessing is spiritual, it is in Christ, and it is in the heavenly realms. This is not speaking about the provision of our natural needs – although God loves to do this as well. But first and foremost our blessings are spiritual, in Christ, and in the heavenly realms.

We have so much to be grateful for!
