#61 – Peace of God

Good morning followers of Christ

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

There is a peace from God available in every circumstance. I know at times it doesn’t appear that way but the Word of God is true. I believe there is so much truth in this passage and it is something I need to walk in more; maybe you do too. When I’m in a challenging situation, it’s easy to react to people, wonder how I’m going to fix it, worry about possible outcomes and at times not even want to do what is right. Why should I make the effort?

And there is part of the key; it takes effort to walk in peace. It takes a denying of self and this is so hard to do. It takes a decision to not be anxious and worry, again, hard to do. It takes effort to refocus from self to taking our request to God. It does take effort to position ourselves for peace but if we do, God promises to give it; that’s His part, but we must do ours first.

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God.

For all of us, this is the first step. Stop, cease, hush, take a breath and refocus on God’s sovereignty. Peace comes from knowing God is on the throne and He orders the steps of righteous people who acknowledge Him in all their ways. God is waiting to give peace; a peace that goes beyond our understanding.
