#6061 – Belonging to God

Good morning people who live counter-cultural to the world.

Exodus 4:20 NIV So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand.

Wait a moment, what do you mean ‘the staff of God’? I thought this was Moses’ staff?

When Moses surrendered his staff in obedience to the Lord’s instructions, it became God’s staff.

Whatever you surrender to the Lord becomes the Lord’s. This is powerful!

I am reminded of the eternal truth that we are stewards of what God owns. We are not owners! In fact, we were never created to own things. We were created to steward – to take care of – God’s things.

Our lives are not our own (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Now that we are in Christ, we don’t live, but Christ lives in us (Galatians 2:20).

God doesn’t exist to do our bidding, nor does He work with us in what we are doing. We were created by Him, and our privilege and honour and responsibility is to partner with Him in what He is doing! The narrative is very different to the narrative of the world.

What would happen if everything we have and everything we own belonged to the Lord?

Would we take more care of things if we truly believed that we belong to Him?

We own nothing.
