Good morning people who never forget why Jesus came to the earth.
Proverbs 11:30 MEV The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.
I want to lean into the second part of this verse: he who wins souls is wise.
Here’s what Jesus said about Himself:
Luke 19:10 MEV For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Why did Jesus come to earth?
To seek and to save that which was lost.
Lost people matter to God – do they matter to us?
I am often drawn to the wording of John 3:16. It does not say ‘God so loved the church that He sent His one and only Son’. It says, ‘God so loved the world.” By world, God means every person on earth, including the terrible sinners who are desperately in need of a Saviour.
Then I am reminded of the truth from one of Jesus’ parables:
Matthew 18:12-14 MEV “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go in search for the one which went astray? And if he finds it, truly I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine which never went astray. So it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.”
Do you want to be wise?
Win souls. Prioritise sharing the good news of the gospel of the kingdom of God. Share Jesus confidently. Love people towards the Father.
He who wins souls is wise.
