#5553 – Gift of Repentance

Good morning people who don’t reject one of the Father’s greatest gifts to us.

2 Corinthians 7:10 NIV Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

True revival will always be marked by repentance.

I don’t know how you see repentance, but my prayer is that today you see it as a gift from God.

No one was saved without repentance. Oh, what a gift repentance is!

Healing for the nations will come through repentance:

2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

This is repentance!

Some people wrongly conclude that they have repented when they receive Christ, and now, they no longer need to repent. Put bluntly, this is foolishness (see the verse above – “If God’s people…”).

A mark of people who are drawing closer to God is they will repent more. This is not because they are sinning more than before, but rather, because they are becoming more aware of little sins due to their right focus on the holiness of God. Many of the sins are to do with the motivation of why we do what we do.

Are we doing what we do purely for the glory of God, or is there a mixture that includes the promotion of self?

This is a game changer!

Show me people who never repent and I will show you people who need to be revived.

Psalms 85:6 NIV “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?”

The greatest joy will be found when God increases and we decrease. In revival, this is what happens! Through repentance, this is what happens.

Responding to the little promptings on the little things is some of the best fuel for going deeper in God. Repentance is a gift from God to you today.
