#5546 – Loving the World

Good morning people who share Father’s heart of love for the lost and dying world.

John 3:16-17 NIV “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

We know that Jesus loves the church, which is His bride and His body. We are called to do the same. Loving Jesus and not loving His bride is an incompatible reality.

And yet today, I want to draw our attention to some of the most well-known words in the Bible, specifically ‘For God so loved the world.’

The Father loved and still loves the world and all the people in it. From the worst to the most hated, God loves them. In fact, He loves them so much that this is exactly why He sent His Son to live and to die for them.

I struggle to love some people who aggressively and violently push evil agendas and who inflict maximum pain and suffering on others. I struggle to separate the person from the sin. (I’m just being honest here).

However, I want to grow in this. I want to see people – all people, everywhere – through the eyes of God and His perfect and sufficient love. This doesn’t weaken my hatred of sin, as it doesn’t weaken God’s hatred of sin. But it must deepen my love for people – all people, everywhere – enough to pray for them and, if necessary, to weep for them.

God loves the world.

Do you?
