Good morning people who are victorious in Christ

2 Corinthians 2:11b For we are not unaware of Satan’s schemes.

Yesterday we talked about Satan’s attack through a distortion of God’s Word. There are many other ways he attacks us and I want to mention them briefly so that we can recognise them and overcome them through what God’s Word accurately says.

1. He uses doubt; about who we are, what we can do and what God actually means. (Matthew 4:3,6)

2. He promises satisfaction; to give us what we want and often what we think we need. (Matthew 4:3)

3. He is subtle and can come through ‘good things’: (Matthew 4:5) Satan didn’t take Jesus to a sinister situation to tempt Him, he took Him to the ‘holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple’. Think about it. (See also Matthew 4:8)

4. He promises things that aren’t his to give (Matthew 4:9)

Don’t be ignorant of the enemies schemes. But also don’t be intimated by him. Remember he is a defeated foe and when we are submitted to God, we can resist the devil and he must flee (James 4:7). Our responsibility is to stay under God’s authority because that means we are under His protection.
