Good morning people who are led by the voice and the heart of God.

God’s Law was given to His wayward children to keep them from broken relationship with Him as a result of frequently turning to sin.

God’s Law was not given to make bad people good, but to keep free people free. Look at the words immediately preceding the giving of the Ten Commandments:

Exodus 20:1-2 NIV And God spoke all these words: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.”

Many have mistaken the laws of God – the rules, the commandments, the instructions of God – as legalistic lines from an angry God who wants to control us. This could not be further from the truth, and it is based in lies from the devil!

God brought His children out of Egypt – out of slavery – and He made them free from the tyranny of the enemy!

It was at this point that God gave His newly freed children some laws to keep them free! Every law of God was given for our protection and for the protection of our relationship with Him and with others.

But God is greater than the law! In other words, our lives are not about obeying the law, but about walking intimately with the God who gave the law to keep us free.

I hear the Lord say to some of you today: “Lift your eyes from the law to the Lord.” This is where your true and lasting freedom will be found.
