#5238 – Greater than Imperfection

Good morning people who are defined by God and His life and love within you.

God is greater than fear, and when we are in Him (in love), there is no fear.

1 John 4:18 NIV There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

While the NIV uses the word punishment, the KJV uses the word torment. It’s not about punishment for doing something wrong (although it can be).

The word torment means ‘to curtail; to curb, check or restrain’. It is more about being put under a limiting lid by the enemy who hates seeing us flourish and be free in God. This is the punishment that is meant here; the harassment of the enemy.

And then it says that ‘the one who fears is not made perfect in love.’

This does not mean that we aren’t loved or we aren’t saved – not at all. Please hear this. There is already too much condemnation for God’s people who are on a deepening journey towards knowing Him better and living in His love.

When fear is present, it really is an indicator that there is more love to receive. The word perfect here is the word complete. In Christ, we have everything we need. But our journey is towards us believing and receiving what has already been given to us.

‘Not being made perfect in love’ is simply an accurate description of our journey towards God. It is saying, “There’s more love to discover.”

I hear the Father say, “Don’t beat yourself up My child. I love you, I really do. And I know you’re on a journey. I know that you feel imperfect. But be assured, you are hidden in My Son. I am greater than your imperfection, and so is Christ in you!”

May we all have a deeper revelation of the love of the Father today.
