Good morning people who receive eternal life from the Father through Jesus.

John 17:2 NIV “For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him.”

Jesus has all authority. It was given to Him by His Father.

And this authority extends over all people. In other words, Jesus has the power to do anything when it comes to people. This is a truth that is important to know. Jesus can do anything; it’s possible.

So, does this mean that He gives eternal life to whoever He wants? Does this mean that people have no choice in the matter?

Not at all.

2 Peter 3:9 NIV The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

Jesus desires to give eternal life to every person. His Father desires relationship with everyone He created. This is God’s desire.

But He gave people free will. People choose to accept or reject God’s free gift of eternal life.

And for those who accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour, He is so pleased to give them eternal life.

And all of this is to the Father’s glory. In fact, people being saved is an inheritance that Jesus receives from His Father.
