#5171 – Knowing the Father

Good morning people who honour Jesus by living a life of intimacy and integrity.

John 15:20-21 NIV “Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.”

Flowing on from yesterday, we must understand that we are actually called to live like Jesus lived. Therefore, how they treated Him is how they will treat us. If they don’t, something is wrong.

That said, how we are treated should be because of His name. We need to get this today.

Sometimes Christians go through opposition, suffering and persecution for things that they have done unwisely. When this happens, we can have a martyr complex and connect it to being a Christian. This is not what Jesus is talking about.

If we are suffering persecution, it should be because we are honouring God; honouring the name of Jesus. And again, Jesus said that persecution will happen.

And then Jesus tells us why it happened to Him and why it will happen to us. It is because people do not know the Father.

Knowing the Father truly is make or break in people’s lives. Jesus fully understood the importance of His mission on earth. Yes, it was salvation, but it was also about reconnecting people with the Father – with His Father who is our Father.

My prayer is that people will encounter the Father through Jesus and through our lives. This is what will change the world.
