Good morning people whose lives accurately represent our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 15:20 NIV “Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.”
This verse clearly shows us our position when it comes to Jesus.
He doesn’t follow our life, we follow His. He doesn’t serve us, we serve Him.
Jesus is our Master.
Yes, He is our Saviour – and we all praise God for this. Without Him, no one can be saved.
But Jesus is also our Lord. This is a revelation that needs to grip the church in the days that we live in. Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords.
And Jesus tells us that what happened to Him will happen to us as we seek to follow Him.
If people persecuted Jesus, they will persecute us. This is a truth that we need to know. In fact, Paul repeatedly said that it was an honour to suffer for Christ. This is a major mindset shift that we need to have.
If people obeyed Jesus’ teaching, they will obey ours too. In other words, our lives should model Jesus’ life.
Going deeper, it’s not about what people do or don’t do to us. It is actually about what people would do or wouldn’t do to Jesus.
If people treat us differently than they would Jesus, then it only reveals that we are living differently to Jesus. This is a sobering thought and it’s not a compliment.
May we all step deeper into relationship with the Master, and may our lives be lived for the Father’s glory.
