#5092 – Biblical Discipleship

Good morning people who are committed to walking with others towards God.

Luke 6:40 NIV The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

I believe that God’s intention is for the church to rediscover biblical discipleship. I believe that we have often reduced discipleship down to a course or a program. It is much more than this.

Discipleship is life on life learning. It requires humility and it requires surrender.

Luke 6:40 NIV The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

You can’t be a disciple if you’re not learning. You won’t learn if you think you know everything or if you know best. Please think about this.

But again, this must not be reduced down to classroom or educational learning – even biblically. Yes, this is wonderful, but it is not discipleship – it can contribute to discipleship, but it is not discipleship.

Our scripture today tells us that a student will be like their teacher. Ultimately this should be the testimony of every believer in relationship with God Himself. As we walk with the Holy Spirit, we should become more like Him; we should see an increase in the fruit of the Spirit.

But again, I also believe that this is in regards to those people we walk with, learn from and submit to. This is biblical discipleship and it needs to be 2022 discipleship.
