#5051 – God’s Righteousness

Good morning people who are who you are because of Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:1 NIV Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours.

Our righteousness is as filthy rags, but God’s righteousness is perfect.

Our faith in God that leads to eternal life is not based on our good works. Our best simply cannot be enough. Trying harder will not produce a righteousness that is acceptable to the Father.

And that’s why we need Jesus. He is acceptable to our Father. He is perfect and holy and blameless. He is our righteousness!

The word righteous means ‘the state of him who is as he ought to be; in a condition acceptable to God’.

We cannot be as we ought to be in and of ourselves outside of Christ. It’s not possible. We can’t be acceptable to Christ unless we are perfect, and we can never be perfect. I know I am restating this, but I feel someone needs to hear it today – freedom, not condemnation, will be the result.

Christ is perfect, and when we are in Him, we are acceptable to God. This is the essence of the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is good news!

And this verse says that our faith comes from God’s righteousness. Did you hear that? We don’t have faith and then righteousness follows. No, it starts with God’s righteousness, and then through God’s righteousness we receive a faith. This is so wonderful.

I just feel there is more revelation on God’s heart for you today – a revelation of God’s righteousness that we are privileged to enter into. We are so blessed!
