#4928 – Called to Peace

Good morning people who live in the peace of God that rules in your heart.

Colossians 3:15 NIV Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

I believe the preceding verses are a key to walking in the peace of Christ.

Paul has just talked about clothing ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. He also instructed us to forgive each other and to put on love over everything.

Then he writes this verse with the instruction to let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.

In our natural bodies, if we hurt one part of our body, our whole body hurts. It might just be that you stubbed your big toe, but your whole body feels the pain. It might just be that you hit your thumb with a hammer, but your whole body feels the pain.

We cannot separate members of our physical body when one member is in pain. So too in the spiritual. We cannot eliminate all pain, and I am not saying this should be our focus.

But I do feel the Holy Spirit is encouraging us all this year to intentionally and continually live in the fruit of the Spirit with a focus on doing other people good, and the result of this will be God’s peace ruling in our hearts.

If peace is eluding you today, I encourage you to look for someone that is in need, and then sacrificially do them good. Just watch and see what the Lord will do.
