#4611 – Faith & Fear

Good morning people who have reverence and awe for our Almighty God

Hebrews 11:7 NIV By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.

Faith in God and holy fear of God go hand in hand.

Noah built the ark because he had faith in God, and he had holy fear of God.

Yet for many today who profess faith in Jesus Christ, the fear of the Lord is absent from their lives.

You may ask, “How do you know this Steve?”

My answer is: The fruit of their lives and their lips testify to this.

Flippancy has too often replaced intimacy. Familiarity has too often replaced holy fear.

Yes, Jesus is the closest of friends who the apostle John leaned his head against His chest. And He is also the One displayed in such brilliant majesty that this same John fell at His feet as though dead.

Reverence for the Lord is needed back in the Church of Jesus Christ.

And we need to understand that the word fear when it comes to the holy fear of the Lord, does not only mean reverence, but it also means being careful and circumspect.

God is a great friend, but He is also a holy judge.
