#4518 – When Tempted

Good morning people who understand that temptation will come to us all

James 1:13 NIV When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.

There are certain things that the Bible talks about that starts with the word ‘when’.

Jesus said, “When you pray”, and “When you fast.” He did not say, “If you pray”, and “If you fast.” We know that this means that prayer and fasting is part of what will happen.

When it comes to sin, listen to what John writes:

1 John 2:1 NIV My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

We have the power to choose if we sin, but we don’t have the power to choose when we are tempted.

We will all be tempted – remember, even perfect Jesus was tempted, as were Adam and Eve who were also perfect at that time.

Why am I saying this?

Because too often we are defeated because we are tempted, even if we haven’t sinned. I don’t believe Jesus felt bad because He was tempted. And nor should we.
