#4455 – Avoid Conspiracies

#4455 – Avoid Conspiracies

Good morning people who desire to live in the freedom that comes from truth

Isaiah 8:11-13 NIV This is what the Lord says to me with his strong hand upon me, warning me not to follow the way of this people: Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.”

WOW! I’m not sure a scripture could speak more clearly into what’s happening in the world today! So many people – including many Christians – are buying into conspiracy, which is causing fear and dread.

This scripture starts with saying the Lord spoke this with His strong hand on Isaiah, and with a warning for him to not follow this people with their conspiracies. There are no wasted words in scripture, therefore it is important to note the word ‘strong’. This was not just about God being nice and loving and tender. No! This was a strong warning from the Lord. The word ‘warning’ is a stronger word than it has been translated into in the NIV. It means ‘to chastise, literally (with blows), figuratively (words)’. God is serious about this! He was then and He is now.

Why was God so strong on this then, and why is He so strong on it now?

Because of what it produces and because of what it does not produce.

Conspiracies produce fear and dread, and these are both things Jesus died to set us free from. Therefore it is dishonouring the sacrifice of Jesus when we give our attention to things that produce unholy fear and dread.
