#4454 – Standing Firm

Good morning people who build yourself up in your most holy faith

Isaiah 7:9b NIV If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.

In the Hebrew, ‘stand firm’ and ‘stand at all’ are the same word (Strong’s h0539). It means ‘to build up or support; to foster as a parent or nurse’. It also means ‘to trust or believe, to be firm and faithful’.

I see action involved in this. I see being deliberate and intentional. I see taking responsibility.

If we are going to trust and believe, and if we are going to be firm and faithful in our faith, we must build ourselves up and walk towards maturity. It doesn’t happen accidentally, neither is it imposed on us by others.

Jude 1:20-21 NIV But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in Gods love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Standing firm in our faith means, making a decision before trials, tests, temptations and persecutions come, to not throw away our confidence in God.

The truth is, if we do not stand firm in our faith, we will not stand at all.
