#4442 – God’s Children

Good morning people who don’t forget the favour and goodness of God

Isaiah 1:2-3 NIV Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth! For the Lord has spoken: I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me. The ox knows its master, the donkey its owners manger, but Israel does not know, my people do not understand.”

One of the recurring themes of the Old Testament is God’s people rebelling against Him, even though He has been so good to them. Naturally speaking, I am shocked by how much they encountered the miraculous, yet how often they forgot, or just simply rebelled against God!

That said, I’m not sure we can judge them too harshly. After all, that would be spiritual pride, especially in light of how easy it is for us to do the same.

This scripture puts this very clearly, and might I say, it’s quite confronting. Here’s my paraphrase of what I read in these verses above:

Even dumb animals know who their master is and where to go in time of need, yet God’s children who have been raised by God often walk in ignorance to who God is and rebel against His Lordship in their life.

WOW! This is not what I want said about my life, and it’s not what I want said about your life. We all need God to even desire God and to walk a life that honours Him. So, today, please join me in recommitting every part of our one life to God and to His glory. Now, let’s go and shine for Him.
