#4246 – When Life’s Tough

Good morning people who rely on God in every season

Sometimes life is really tough.

Have you ever been falsely accused when you were doing the right thing? How about betrayed by someone who you thought was your friend? Have you been verbally or physically attacked? How you been in a place where huge decisions were making you physically ill? How about in a place where you questioned where God was and your heart was breaking?

We all experience tough times in life and some of these times seem impossible to bear. So what do we do? Is there any hope?

In the really tough times we all go somewhere. But is it the right place?

Here’s a list of some things people go to when it’s really tough: drugs and alcohol, binge eating or not eating at all, excessive exercise or stopping exercise altogether, withdrawing from everyone and everything, sexual misconduct – self-fulfilment in its different forms, violence and lashing out at everyone around them, absorbing themselves in work or hobbies, talking to friends about what’s happening or going the way of solitude – a need to be alone and process things.

Most of these are unhealthy while the last couple seem ok. Yet the Bible gives us different guidance.

Matthew 11:28-30 NIV Come to Me (Jesus), all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

Jesus instructs us to come to Him when life is tough. Is that what you do? I know I don’t always go to God as my first option.

Let’s look at this a bit more over the next couple of days.
