#4130 – Paul’s Focus

Good morning people who have given their lives to God

There are so many incredible passages in the Bible that inspire us to live life well. I commend to you some thoughts from the Apostle Paul. Take a few moments this morning and read this passage slowly allowing the Holy Spirit to speak to you.

Acts 20:22-24 And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.

I love the progression of what Paul is saying here.

His life is lived being led by the Holy Spirit. Is ours?

He went to Jerusalem not knowing what will happen to him there. Do we move and go and follow when we aren’t sure of the outcome?

He knew that there would be suffering for the sake of Christ. Have we accepted this in our lives? James 1:2-4 is true. Count it all joy when you face trials of many kinds…because God wants to produce His fruit in us through difficult times. Do we let Him?

He was not ruled by his natural desires in this life. Do we have the correct perspective of what is important? Is our will the most important thing to us?

His goal was to finish that which Jesus Christ had given him to do. Are we ones who remain faithful to the call or are we distracted?

He knew the task was to testify of God’s grace. Our task has not changed. A testimony is based on what is seen and heard; what is experienced. Have you experienced God’s grace? Let’s ensure we continue to testify with our lives and our words about God’s goodness.

May we, like Paul, honour God with our lives.
