Immediately following Jesus telling Peter that he was blessed because he had received revelation from the Father about Who He was, we read the following verses:

Matthew 16:21-23 NIV From that time on Jesus began to explain to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!” Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

Oh how quickly it can happen! Oh how quickly we can move from receiving revelation from God to being led by our intellect!

In verse 17 Peter was commended for having the mind of Christ, and in verse 23 Peter was rebuked for having the mind of Satan.

Oh how quickly we can go from the mind of Christ to the natural way of thinking!

Father, please help us to stay in revelation from You. Help us to continue in the mind of Christ.
