Good morning people whose lives and words accurately point people to God
Yesterday, I made this statement:
Here we see Jonah running from God in outright and clear disobedience, yet his testimony to others is, “I worship the Lord, the God of heaven”.
Here’s the verses again – notice one of the questions that Jonah was asked:
Jonah 1:8-9 NIV So they asked him, “Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What kind of work do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?” He answered, “I am a Hebrew and I worship the Lord, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry land.”
Again, I sense a weightiness from the Holy Spirit today.
Sometimes people ask us questions like the question Jonah was asked. Maybe the question goes something like this: “What did you do on the weekend?” or “Are you a Christian?” or “What is your view on…”
Regardless of the question, if our answer is going to involve a spoken or unspoken message that we worship the Lord, the God of heaven, then our lives need to match up with our words.
Before you react, I am not talking about perfection and never making a mistake. I don’t believe the world expects Christians to be perfect (and nor should we), but they do expect (and so they should) to see people whose lives reflect the God they profess.
“Father, please help us all to accurately reflect You and to point people to Yourself by our words and our actions.”
